Watch Me by Tahereh Mafi

Genre: YA dystopian/ Romance

Length: 368 pages

My Thoughts:

I love all of Taherah’s book series, I read the Shatter Me series years ago and loved it so much. The characters are so dear to me and their dynamic is amazing. The found family and soulmates trope is heartwarming, and it’s filled with hilarious moments and banter. But it’s also packed with action.

And this series is no exception to her masterful writing. It follows James Kent our MMC, Aaron Warner’s younger brother, who he took in and practically raised. And Rosabelle Wolff our FMC, who is a trained assassin with a tragic backstory.

Watch Me takes place 10 years after the initial series so we see our favourite characters in their 30’s with families and it so cute.🥰

So obviously they start out as enemies and later on begin to care for each other. I loved how they just see each other like no one else. They were just so fun to read about and i really need them to be together in the next book which comes out this year! James is like a mix of Kenji and Aaron because he fights like Aaron but is just as hilarious as Kenji. And Rosa has literally no emotions except for when is comes to James. She’s known as a ruthless, emotionless killer. But i will say the end of the book was a whirlwind of emotions, it was plot twist after plot twist and then ended on an insane cliff hanger!

I cannot wait for the next one, I know the plot is just going to get more insane from here! So excited!

Watch Me by Teherah Mafi is the first book in the New Republic series, which is the sequel to her well known original series called Shatter Me. It features many of the original series, however it’s told from different characters POVs.

Synopsis:

James Anderson had a plan…or half of one. All that matters is he did what his older brother, Aaron Warner Anderson, never could: break into Ark Island, the last stronghold of The Reestablishment. Sure, he’s stuck in a prison cell, but to James, that still counts as a win.

It’s been ten years since Juliette Ferrars and Warner brought down The Reestablishment and built the New Republic of the West. But after a decade of uneasy peace, the regime is ready to rise again, and they’ve got the perfect weapon.

Rosabelle Wolff always has a plan. On Ark Island, where even feelings are monitored, she’s a trained assassin who never hesitates when given an order.
