The Jasad Crown by Sara Hashem
The Jasad Crown is an Adult Fantasy Romance and Sara Hashem’s debut novel. It’s the first book in The Scorched Throne duology, with the second book that was released just this year!
Synopsis:
Ten years ago, the kingdom of Jasad was burned and its magic outlawed, with the entire royal family slaughtered. At least, that’s what Sylvia wants everyone to believe.
The lost heir of Jasad, Sylvia wants nothing more than to stay hidden. But when Arin, heir of Nizahl, tracks rebels to her village, survival gets complicated.
One slip of anger exposes her magic, and Arin takes notice. To live, Sylvia strikes a dangerous deal: help him hunt the rebels, or face execution.
As the game between them twists from hatred to something sharper, Sylvia must choose between the life she’s built and the crown she left behind.
My Thoughts:
This book should be the new template for other authors. It has all the elements that make it the perfect book. Such as, when I say I want enemies to lovers I don’t mean the FMC and MMC are enemies for like three chapters. Arin and Sylvia are true enemies to lovers, the tension was incredible. When they first meet they really fight each other, like there is no pulling punches.
The magic and mythology was a breath of fresh air. We constantly get fantasy romance that revolves around fae and simply magic systems, but The Jasad Heir has complex politics and an intriguing magic system that has a lot of backstroy.
I also will say Sylvia is such a strong and brave protagonist. Typically in romanticises the FMC is a small, petite, skinny, poor, but as the same time beautiful girl. But Sylvia is a tall woman who is incredibly strong and can hold her own against a man. She is very skilled in fighting and is intelligent. Also there isn’t much emphasis on her beauty which I did really appreciate. And not to mention Arin, oh my god he is the ultimate book boyfriend. He’s absolutely majestic.
The Scorched Throne duology is one of my top 10 series of ALL TIME! Everyone needs to read it at least once.
